Landscaping Software Vs Professional Landscapers

Category : Gardening

I was going through a list of gardening resources today (thanks google! ;-) ) when I came across an interesting post about some landscaping software. I thought wow this would be a good idea for the upcoming winter to start planning how we are going to turn our rather plain looking yard into a landscaped bonanza that any home owner would be proud of.

In the past few years my wife and I have approached each spring season with good intentions of landscaping our yard into something with a little pizazz and invariably every years we just kind of wing it. Hoping that the plants, bushes and trees grow the way the little tag on them says they will. Guess what if your luck is like ours when it comes to landscaping adventures your gardening plans did not work out quite as well as you had hoped.

We would love to get a professional landscaper to take a look at our yard or be chosen as a contestant for one of those yard make over shows that you see on the HGTV channel all the time. Unfortunately we have neither the money or the luck to afford us a professional landscaper so we do like so many home owners do every spring, we wing it.

I really had not put much thought into landscaping software until I saw that post earlier today. I have seen a few here and there and I even tried a demo of one that was on a PC in popular electronics store once. Needless to say the exposure I did have to landscaping software left me under whelmed to say the least.  So I figured now would be as good as time as any to do a little research on some of the better landscaping software programs on the market. I am pleased to report that there are quite a few good looking landscaping software programs on the market to choose from and all seem to be right with in our price range which is under $100 and cheaper!

I will go ahead and mention two landscaping software programs that seem to be popping up in all the gardening resources I found that were supplying reviews of all the latest landscaping software. The first one that I saw more than a few times is called Punch! Home and Landscape Design which was the cheaper of the two I will mention with a price range at just about $50 bucks it seemed to have all the features and ease of use that most newbie landscapers like my self could appreciate. The other program is called Realtime Landscaping Plus 5 and again this software program was getting all the accolades as the first program I mentioned with a price tag just above the first at about $80 dollars.

What I liked about both of these landscaping programs was first and foremost the price was under my $100 limit which is a big plus right out of the gate. Then you add in the fact that both of them have pretty much the same type of features with 3D designs, 3D walk throughs, a plant library, picture import features to put in pictures of my own house so I can see what my landscape design will look like in front of my house and not just a rendering of a 3D box.

All in all I really don’t see how any home owner could go wrong with the use of a landscaping program. The price alone is worth anyone of these programs especially when you compare that to the price of hiring a professional landscaper, yikes
