Uh Oh Economy Time To Start My Own Garden

All forms of home gardening resources are on the rise as more and more people are turning alternative ways to ensure that their food supplies stay fresh and abundant. As global fears over recessions, depressions and economies going bankrupt. Not to say that people are all doom and gloom but there is a good amount that are taking control of their food supplies now in case something drastic does happen. So things like intensive farming, hydroponics and indoor gardening products like the aerogarden are seeing a boom in online researches and products being purchased.

I have seen a lot more backyard gardens this past summer just in the surrounding neighborhoods in my area. Just the few people I know personally that have started their own backyard gardens this past year were in a direct response to rising food and gas prices. I know one gentleman that turned his backyard shed into a make shift green house a year ago. He is now rotating crops in his little shed and growing all sorts of herbs and vegetables year round now in his own little intensive farm, quite impressive actually.

Growing your own vegetables, fruits and herbs are not purely motivated by the status of the global economy though. The other major reason more people are turning to their backyards and indoor garden alternative is to get real organically grown foods into their diet. There’s just something about pulling the food out of your own dirt and knowing exactly what you used to grow that food that has become reassuring to a lot of people in the recent years. As more and more studies point to the health benefits of organically grown foods as opposed to the chemical laden one’s we have been buying from grocery stores for so many years now.

Truth be told there are probably a hundred reasons out there to start growing your own garden. There are enough products and online gardening  resources out there now for anyone to become a gardener, no matter their experience level. I highly recommend to anyone out there that has never tried gardening to learn it because of the two reasons I discussed, health and financial benefits. It’s a great activity that you can do with your kids too.
